PioneerX Trucking

Gaming servers managed by PioneerX

As many will have seen on my post about my Sim Rig, my very first use a dedicated rig was to drive trucks. After many hours in Euro Truck Simulator 2 I moved on to other things. However recently I have rekindled this passion. In addition to getting back into ETS2 I also purchased ATS and all the relevant DLC’s so that I could drive something different.

Simulator(s):

These two simulators are very similar however the experience is very different. ETS2 is based on traditional European trucks (cab over) which have very flat fronts and the driver sits very close to the front of the truck. The types and sizes of cargo these can haul is very much tailored to the small European roads and tight bends. The challenge here is often negotiating the road systems and roundabouts with a long heavy load behind.

The experience of ATS has some similarities to ETS2, in that you drive a truck, manage drivers and garages etc. However the sheer size of the trucks and loads combined with very long straight highways, makes ATS a totally different beast. I find the challenge is less about the roads themselves and more about how I’m going to successfully drive something that weighs 103,000lb towing a dumper truck on a triple articulated low load trailer.
